Helicoverpa armigera

Helicoverpa armigera

Cotton bollworm, corn earworm, Old World (African) bollworm

AFFECTED CROP:

A highly polyphagous pest that affects more than 100 host plant species, many of them of great economic importance. Among the most important crops affected by this pest are maize, tomato, sorghum, cotton and citrus.

DAMAGES:

They are caused by larvae that have a very voracious behaviour, mainly attacking the fruit, rendering it unfit for sale. On citrus trees in our country, it causes damage to tender leaves and fruit. Maize and sorghum are crops heavily affected by this pest.
