AFFECTED CROP:
Wide range of plants: lettuce, potatoes, tomato, cotton, maize, sunflower, pepper and cereals. It also affects other crops such as cabbage, tobacco, beans, beetroot, celery and asparagus.
DAMAGES:
The smaller larvae devour leaf parenchyma, while the more adult larvae burrow holes through thicker areas of the plant. They also attack shoots and buds, thus preventing the plant from growing properly. They also damage fruit and flowers, causing punctures in the fruit and feeding on the pupa.
